He draws on theories about learning and language. He has consulted for some of the world’s largest companies and has appeared on radio and television.
Rifkin is an engineer-turned-sociologist with degrees from MIT, the University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University. He has been recognised as one of Australia’s most innovative and effective university lecturers and has won awards for teaching students in business, arts, and science. His workshops for industry and government are known for being engaging, discomforting, revealing, and humourous.
Rifkin just completed a decade as Director of the Science Communication Program at the University of New South Wales. He now leads the New Media for Science project funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, continues a consultancy practice, and serves as an Honorary Associate of the University of Sydney.
